The Digital Divide

I don't think anyone stands on their own because everyone in their own ways is addicted to the internet. So where do I stand? I'm just another person using the internet unwisely. I would say it's a help to achieve my goals, but it also distracts me from a lot of things and spit can hold back a lot for a lot of other things. My data is not protected at all. Which is uncomfortable to know.

Journal

Today my journal is going to be about how excited I am about my big question. No offense but this is about the 3rd time i really am excited about something we do in class. It's exciting because like WOW! A teacher actually is letting us do a research on something we would actually enjoy working on and researching on. I really do appreciate that.

Opinion on today.

Everyone got really different questions. From wifi questions to religious questions. Lots of the questions that were talked about also have came up in my mind and I really hope they take the time and effort to study about it and explain to us what they learned throughout their research! I know I will because I really want to know what more open minded people, like philosophers have to say about this.

My Ignite Talk

Topic -
-
Was religion invented to control people?
What i did over break to explore my big question?
- I thought i was going to do another question, until my team and I put our minds together and thought about other things and religion was brought up. So I did my research today.
Something learned by doing the research:
- Religion can used to control people, but if religion is considered to control people, so can schools, so can marriage,so can the military .. and the list goes on.

A connection made from this course and my big question :
Fahrenheit 451  had people thinking a certain way and to me i saw a connection to religion having people think a certain way too.
Next step
Doing more research.

Final Big Question.

Was religion invented to control people?
 My source :  https://carm.org/was-religion-invented-to-control-people

P.S. I have not started reading on this website yet. So before I do start doing my research I want to say my thoughts and my opinion, so I can compare on how well informed I will be.... I'm Catholic, so I do believe in Jesus, in Virgin Mary and angels, in miracles  etc.. With that being said I do wonder if it at times religion was created by a person, not very much different like us. There is times where i think it was created to control the public, you chose your religion or sometimes you're just born into it and keep it that way for the rest of your life. It makes sense to create something like regulations that a group of people look up to that says is good to do and that'll be the way you'll get into Heaven. Imagine life without religion.. no morals .. no sins .. people would not have anything to keep them under control other than of course the laws created by the government. It would be harder to keep people under control because there would not be anything they would look for, after death. So I am sure the majority of people would do what they feel is right. Not what the Holy Bible or a preacher says to do. I love my religion, but there is nothing wrong with being informed about other things and expanding your mind. So i do thank Dr. Preston for the time he is giving us to be informed about something we are truly passionate about.

Another comment for the pre-essay socratic seminar

I believe that students feel much comfortable typing things out because they're afraid to say something wrong through messages you can just say something else, erase it and then send it or post it but when you're actually taking or commenting something you can't just go back and re-phrase it without loosin peopls intrest. @Jesusmuñozcomment

My comment on today's pre-essay socratic seminar

When Jish asked the question, "Who bombed the city?" & we all knew that it was never told. To me right away I connected it & linked it as another example of how blindfolded people live in the story. Government doesn't care for their people, they don't them "getting out of control" but in all truths they don't want their people being smart because if they were smart they would stand up for themselves, but the government wants to keep on controlling all of them. So to me, i saw it as another example of them (the people) being blind and not caring for much. Just doing what they are being told.
